Biometric Access Management System (BAMS)
Building on the lessons learned and successes from the
Biometric Identification System for Access (BISA)
project, Azimuth and CSC developed the Biometric Access
Management System (BAMS). The BAMS integrates a complete
biometrics collection suite as well as matching and
verification services. Matching can be performed through
internal matchers or by known identification systems such
as the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS)
or Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System
(IAFIS). Verification can be accomplished through a
variety of methods such as fingerprint sensors, hand
geometry units, or biometrically-enabled smart cards.
The system is based on a modular design which allows for
selection of the appropriate features desired by the
customer. An ideal system can be created through
integration of selected components incorporating
appropriate biometric hardware and software. Possible
deployment options are man-pack, mobile, semi-fixed or
fixed biometric collections. BAMS provides the means to
identify any individuals in the local population,
identify suspected insurgents, or detect a wanted
individual attempting to masquerade as another.
